Exhibition "Jews of Lviv between two World Wars" |

|
A unique exhibition “Jews of Lviv between two World Wars” initiated by All-Ukrainian Jewish Charitable Foundation “Hesed-Arieh” was opened in Lviv Museum of History of Religion. The exposition covers the period from 1918 until 1939. It presents various items of culture and every-day life, books and the press published in Polish, Ukrainian, Yiddish and Hebrew. Unique books and some items of everyday-life from the funds of Hesed’s museum “Tracing Galician Jews” were exposed here for the first time; silver and synagogue needlework were taken from the reserves of Museum of History of Religion; some books- from Lviv Scientific Library named after Stefanyk. Major of exhibits are exposed for the first time within the last ten years.
Festive opening of the exhibition was attended by a number of people. Deputy governor of Lviv Regional State Administration Igor Derzhko and the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Ї”, chief of internal relationship department of Lviv Regional State Administration Taras Voznyak personally greeted the guests. Director of the Museum Zoryana Bilyk assured that this exhibition meant another step towards long lasting cooperation with “Hesed-Arieh”. Hesed’s Director Adel Dianova in her speech sincerely hoped that in the future multicultural Lviv will finally have Jewish museum. Now Hesed’s museum “Tracing Galician Jews” is the only Jewish museum in the city.
